Stafanie Taylor struck a match-winning 75 as West Indies beat Ireland by 64 runs in the first of their three match T20I series in Dublin.

A new-look Irish side had four T20I debutants - Una Raymond-Hoey, Rebecca Stokell, Louise Little and Sophie MacMahon - and the latter impressed as she, Kim Garth, and Celeste Raack all kept things tight as West Indies toiled to 53 for 2 in the 11th over.

Taylor though pressed the accelerator as she hit 11 fours and a six in an unbeaten 75 from 53 balls to taker her side to 139 for 4.

Irish skipper Laura Delany was struck hard on the ankle when fielding off her own bowling and was taken to hospital for precautionary scans.

The Irish innings never got going, with only Kim Garth managing to reach double figures. The Pembroke all-rounder struck six boundaries in her 46, as Ireland made just 75, losing by 64 runs. Afy Fletcher (4-14) and Chanelle Henry (2-15) were the pick of the visitors attack.

"It was a bit of a disappointing day," said Garth afterwards. "We started really well with the ball, which was a big positive for us, but then we fell away a bit. We've trained a lot and practised on hitting an area, and keeping it simple – T20 is such a dynamic game and for us it about keeping it simple, but we failed to do that at times today and that is where the game got away from us.

"Some very pleasing bowling performances – Sophie has only played a game or two, and I thought she was brilliant with the ball, Raacky had more of an experienced head, but she was also brilliant, so there are positives to take but overall a very disappointing day."
