Thanks for Nothing would be most people's reply (ICC.tv)
So after SEVEN inspections this farce has come to an end with no play seemingly possible. Of course the outfield is dry enough for the players to be kicking a ball around for the last couple of hours - I always wonder how football and Rugby manage to get played when wet grass is seemingly too dangerous for cricket?
World Cup League 2, Scotland beat Namibia by 55 runs.

King City, Toronto, 4 September.
Scotland 164 (24 overs; G Munsey 59, B McMullan 27, T Bruce 22; R Trumpleman 3-24, B Scholtz 3-25, JJ Smit 2-25)
Namibia 109 (21.2 overs; Z Green 27, JJ Smit 26; C Greaves 3-24, B Currie 2-7, S Sharif 2-12) (Rain delayed - match reduced to 24 overs.)
George Munsey got Scotland off to a flying start (Cricket Scotland)
George Munsey in T20 mode, his 59 coming off just 31 balls (3x4, 6x6), but after he departed with the score at 88 in the tenth over, no one was able to keep that pace up, and Namibia would no doubt be satisfied with their efforts in the field. But in the end Scotland's total was more than enough after the customary early strikes from Brad Currie, followed by two more from Safyaan Sharif had reduced Namibia to 36-5 in the twelfth over. Three wickets from Chris Greaves confirmed Scotland's dominance in the comfortable win that carries them to the top of the Points Table. Namibia's only sucess was the MOM award, amazingly given to JJ Smit rather than George Munsey whose innings was undoubtedly the match winning one.
World Cup League 2, Canada lost to Scotland by 7 wickets.

Scotland celebrate the win (Cricket Scotland)
Scotland put in to bat in the 'Big Yin' - a place in the U19 World Cup Finals going to the winners. The Scots will be disappointed with their final total as they lost their way mid innings after a solid opening platform had been established. Cedric de Lange claiming four wickets with his innocuous looking off spin. The chase ebbed and flowed throughout with a fourth wicket stand of 73 between Tom De Leede (67) and Teun Kloppenburg (38) getting the Dutch back into it after they fell to 35 for 3 with early wickets for Finlay Jones. Manu Saraswat looked to have won it with vital wickets but Aadit Jain (28*) gave his side late hope. In the end, Jones took his fourth wicket to clinch a 20-run win amidst great scenes. It's Scotland who claim the golden ticket of a World Cup berth and the Dutch 25-year drought continues.

Scotland 163-2 (26.3 overs: M Saraswat 53*, R Grant 53*, O Pillinger 43) (Target 160 in 47 overs)
Rory Grant was unbeaten on 53 in Scotland's win (Cricket Scotland)
Five wickets for Finlay Jones and two each for George Cutler and Ethan Ramsay as Sweden were bowled out for just 154.A brisk start to the chase by Ollie Pillinger whose 43 came off just 32 deliveries (8x4) and an unbroken century partnership for the third wicket between Manu Saraswat and Rory Grant saw the hosts home in quick time.
Men's T20 World Cup European Qualifier: Jersey beat Scotland by 1 wicket.
Voorburg, 11 July.
Scotland 133-7 (20 overs; M Cross 43*, M Watt 28, R Berrington 20; H Carlyon 3-26, B Ward 2-24)
Jersey 134-9 (20 overs; N Greenwood 49; M Watt 2-22, C Greaves 2-25, S Sharif 2-32)
A sensational last ball win by Jersey that keeps their World Cup hopes alive while Scotland miss out! A disastrous start by the Scots who found themselves 64-6 in a vital game for both sides' hopes in securing a World T20 Finals place with a 61 run 7th wicket partnership between Matt Cross and Mark Watt saving their blushes. A quick start to the chase but with wickets falling at regular intervals Scotland fought their way back into the game. A couple of dropped catches and a missed stumping were to prove costly as Jersey quite literally scrambled over the line.

Netherlands 142-7 (20 overs; N Croes 50*, M Levitt 22, R van der Merwe 20, S Edwards 20; C Greaves 3-26, B McMullen 2-33)
Batting first after winning the toss, Scotland lost George Munsey early on in their innings, though fellow opener Ollie Hairs was able to score 52 from 35 balls. Contributions also came from Riche Berington (28 from 23) and Charlie Tear (32 from 24) as they scored 148-9 from their 20 overs. Bas de Leede was the pick of the Dutch bowlers with 3-17. A 35 ball knock of 52 by Noah Croes was the top score in the Dutch reply, but the next highest score was Michael Levitt's 22 and they fell just short of their target, being restricted to 142-7 and losing by six runs. Chris Greaves was the pick of the bowlers with 3-26.

A record breaking 191 from George Munsey wasn't enough today (Cricket Scotland)
A record Scottish ODI score from George Munsey whose 191 included 14x4 & 11x6, propelled the Scots to seemingly safe 369. But with Max O'Dowd leading the chase the Oranje still in the game, 200 up in the 30th over. If O'Dowd is leading the way Nidamanuru and Croes are playing their their part also - 32 required off the final 4 overs. The Oranje surely favourites now, they've got the rate down from tens to a run-a-ball from the last 3 overs. Sharif can bowl two of them and he claims Croes third ball back! 11 required off 12 balls and 8 comes off Cassell's final over. 3 off 6 for a fantastic winning chase by the Netherlands. And O'Dowd wins it with a 6!! One of the great chases - what a match.

Half century for Ryan Kamwemba (Zimbabwe Cricket)
Zimbabwe Academy looked to be on course for a decent total after Ryan Kamwemba (57) and Kian Blignaut (34) shared a second wicket stand of 86 to take them to 94 for 1. However, the wheels came off in spectacular fashion as they lost their last nine wickets for just 47 to implode to 141 all out with 15 overs unused. There were four wickets for Chris Greaves, three for Safyaan Sharif and two for Jasper Davidson in an impressive display by the Scots' attack. The chase was always going to be routine despite four wickets for spinner Brendon Senzere. Good time in the middle for Finlay McCreath, Chris Greaves, Brandon McMullen and Chris McBride. That sets the Scots up well for their upcoming games against Zimbabwe A.

The first half of the chase has Scots well in control with a wicket each for Mark Watt, Jasper Davidson and Chris Greaves. In the end a very routine 66-run win for Scotland as Greaves and Watt double up. There will be sterner challenges ahead for Scotland in the week ahead.

Scottish Cup 2025
Final: Clydesdale beat Heriots by 20 runs.
Uddingston, 24 August.
Clydesdale 104 (31.5 overs; P Barbour 25, A Ghaffar 21; J Dickenson 4-20, M Watt 3-38, A Neill 2-14)
Heriots 84 (23 overs; P Ross 20, L Brown 20; Z Rahman 4-24, R Alavala 3-27, A Ghaffar 3-28)
Clydesdale lift the Cup (Cricket Scotland)
The Clydesdale batters found the going tough against defending champions Heriots, bowled out for just 104 inside 32 overs. Leg-spinner James Dickenson and slow left-armer Mark Watt revelling in the spin friendly conditions after 6’9’’ seamer Adrian Neill had made the early breakthrough. Heriots batters not finding it any easier Adil Ghaffar with two early wickets - one that kept low and one the bounced! Ghaffar took 6-25 in their semi-final and now a third today as Matty Cross edges behind for just 4. Nightmare as Elliott edges to slip next ball from Alavala. It's spin that did the job for Heriots but seam is doing the business for Clydesdale. Two in two balls for Zac Rahman and it's looking bleak for the holders with Peter Ross hanging on giving them a chance but he's gone with 22 still needed. All over when Zac Rahman claims his fourth. Neither side was able to come to terms with a pitch that was hardly fitting for Scotland's showpiece.

Scotland 242/9 (50 overs: P Chatterji 61, R Slater 61*, S Bryce 42; N Akter 4-40, J Ferdus 2-43)
Chatterji stumped to end a partnership worth 115 (ICC)
Slow going at the start for Bangladesh getting the benefit of a couple of close lbw calls. Priyanaz Chatterji with the breakthough but Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter both post their half centuries building a great platform for the final 20 overs. Both out in quick succession but that's the signal for skipper Sultana Joty to ram home the advantage with a hard hitting knock of 83* off 59 balls (11x4). Early wickets mean a daunting target looks even further away. Sarah Bryce providing the resistance at the moment but someone else needs to step up and that's not happening. Bryce caught and bowled by Jannatul Ferdus - Scotland spun to defeat despite a valiant century eighth wicket partnership between Priyanaz Chatterji and Rachel Slater. Ireland beware!
Scotland beat Thailand by 58 runs

Lahore CCA, 13 April.
Scotland 206 (41 overs: K Bryce 60, M McColl 57, A Lister 38, A Aiken-Drummond 22; T Putthawong 3-28, O Kamchomphu 3-34, N Boochatham 2-46)
Thailand 148 (31.3 overs: N Chantham 63, N Boochatham 20; R Slater 3-9, A Maqsood 3-26, K Fraser 3-28)
Half-century for skipper Kathryn Bryce (Cricket Scotland)
Scottish skipper Kathryn Bryce again leading the way in a middle order partnership with Ailsa Lister with Megan McColl taking over in the latter half of the innings. A maiden ODI half century for Megan McColl but Scotland are bowled out with nine overs unused hoping they have enough runs on the board already. A steady start to the chase from Thailand but Rachel Slater has knocked over the first three - great stuff from the left-arm seamer. Leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood claims the fourth lbw, batter reluctant to leave convinced she's hit it, read the book as they say. Skipper Naruemol Chaiwai holding up the Scots and it looks like Thai hopes rest with her but she's running out of partners fast. Boochatham bowled by Maqsood ends the Thai challenge.
Pakistan beat Scotland by 6 wickets
Lahore CCA, 11 April.
Scotland 186/9 (32 overs: K Bryce 91, A Lister 31, S Bryce 21; F Sana 4-23, S Iqbal 2-43)
Pakistan 189/4 (30.4 overs: M Ali 71, A Riaz 68*)
Kathryn Bryce congratulated by Alisa Lister (Cricket Scotland Twitter)
Delayed start match reduced to 32 overs. The Bryce sisters combining well in a third wicket stand of 51 after two early wickets for Pakistan. Kathryn Bryce passes 50 as she and Alisa Lister motor along nicely going into the last 10. Wonderful innings by Kathryn Bryce gives the Scots genuine hope at the halfway point. Two early wickets and Scotland are on top. Muneeb Ali leading a recovery and it's evenly poised at the halfway point of the chase. Ali still there and the equation now is 68 from last 9 overs, Muneeb gone for 71 and this one is going to the wire. The hosts prevail thanks to two wonderful knocks by Ali and Riaz.
Scotland beat West Indies by 11 runs
Lahore CCA, 9 April.
Scotland 245 (45 overs: S Bryce 55, M McColl 45, K Fraser 25*, D Carter 25, A Drummond 21; H Matthews 4-56, A Alleyne 2-31, K Ramharack 2-46)
West Indies 233 (46.2 overs: H Matthews 114*, Z James 45; K Fraser 3-50, C Abel 2-31, A Maqsood 2-60)
A century for Hayley Matthews, so nearly the Windies saviour (ICC)
Three wickets for Hayley Matthews in her first three overs rocked the Scots with Sarah Bryce and Megan McColl doing the rebuilding. 5th wicket stand of 82 ended by Matthews again but Scotland strongly placed to put a decent total on the board. Early wicket for Darcy Carter but Hayley Matthews and Zaida James carried the Windies through to the first drinks break. Hayley Matthews in control but Stefanie Taylor run out, and Chilelle Henry stumped in the same Maqsood over to pile the pressure onto the Windies skipper. She's into the nineties but floored with cramp - and she's off! Another wicket and Scotland must surely be favourites! Matthews return hits a boundary to move to 99, collapses and is stretchered off!! She's back AGAIN and completes her century on one leg and finishes not out - but what a win for the Scots!
Scotland Under 19 Women 2025
Group 1: India beat Scotland by 150 runs

Bayeumas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, 28 January.
India 208/1 (20 overs: T Gongadi 110*, Kamalini G 61*, S Chalke 29*; M Maceira 1-25)
Scotland 58 (14 overs: E Walsingham 12, P Kelly 12, P Sproul 11; A Shujla 4-8, V Sharma 3-5, T Gongadi 3-6)
100 for Trisha Gongadi - her first and the first ever in the U19WC (ICC)
A stunning 53 ball maiden century by Trisha Gongadi left Scotland facing an impossible task, even to avoid a huge defeat in their final game. When Scotland batted left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma with two in her first over became the tournament's leading wicket taker. But it's another left-arn spinner Aayushi Shukla who tops the bowling with four and just to rub salt into the wounds centurion Gongadi wraps things up taking the final three. Consolation for the Scots in that the point they gained in the washout versus Sri Lanka sees them finish ahead of the West Indies in the table.
Group 1: Scotland v Sri Lanka - no result

Bayeumas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, 26 January.
Scotland
Sri Lanka
The miserable scene in Kuala Lumpur (CS)
No prospect of play or even a Toss with a huge downpour delaying proceedings with the abandonment coming two hours after the scheduled start.
Group D: Bangladesh beat Scotland by 18 runs

Bangi, 22 January.
Bangladesh 121/9 (20 overs: S Akter 29, A Era 21, J Ferdous 20; N Sheikh 2-15, M Maceira 2-27)
Scotland 103/8 (20 overs: P Sproul 43, N Muir 22; A Soba 4-25)
Anisa Soba collects her POTM award for figures of 4-25 (ICC)
Scotland with a fight on their hands with a recovery by Bangladesh carrying them from 50/5 after 10 to a challenging 121 at the change of innings. Scotland struggling to get any momentum in the chase 41/2 at the drinks break needing 61 off the second 10 overs. Fifty partnership between Pippa Sproul and skipper Niamh Muir but Muir is out with 50 needed off the final 5 overs. Sproul bowled for 43 and Scotland's last hope gone with the leg-spin of Anisa Soba accounting for the tail.
Group D: Nepal lost to Scotland by 1 wicket

Bangi, 20 January.
Nepal 73 (18.5 overs: P Mahato 27, S Dhami 10; M Maceira 5-15, A Baldie 2-17, N Sheikh 2-19)
Scotland 74/9 (18.4 overs: P Sproul 35, G Fontenla 12*; R Chaudhary 2-13, Seemana KC 2-16)
The Sweep claims another wicket! (ICC)
Scotland would have been happy to bowl out Nepal for just 73, Maisie Maceira claiming the T20 rarity of a five wicket haul and Amelie Baldie and Nayma Sheikh two each. However it was tough going with Pippa Sproul playing a lone hand for the Scots taking advantage of a simple missed catch on 26. Sixteen required off 3 overs with just 1 wicket left and the eighteenth over goes for 11. Gabriella Fontenla and Kirsty McColl add the 16 required for the last wickert and somehow Scotland get the win, that dropped catch off Sproul proving vital in the end.
Group D: Australia beat Scotland by 9 wickets

Bangi, 18 January.
Scotland 48 (15.1 overs: E Walsingham 21, C Nevard 10; C Bray 3-1, E Larosa 3-7, H Gill 2-10)
Australia 49/1 (6.4 overs: K Pelle 29*, I McKeon 12)
A rare moment of success for Scotland (ICC)
A downpour interrupted the game with Australia 5 balls short of a DLS decision, but the rain relented long enough for them to record the first win of the Tournament, Katie Pelle seeing them home in emphatic style with 29* off 18 balls (1x4, 3x6). The Scots lost their last five wickets for just three runs as the Australian bowlers took full advantage of their decision to field - none more so than 15 year old Big Bash superstar Caoimhe Bray.
Ireland beat Scotland by 114 runs - Warmup

The Sevens Stadium, Dubai, 9 January.
Ireland 158/4 (20 overs: A Walsh 64, R Lowe 23, L McBride 22, A Squires 19*)
Scotland 44 (12.2 overs: C Nevard 18; N McNulty 2-2, M Spence 2-3, J Jackson 2-7)
An opening partnership of 54 between Alice Walsh and Rebecca Lowe set Ireland on their way to an impressive total in the first of todayÃs two warmup matches versus Scotland. Wickets for Kia McCartney and Jennifer Jackson in the opening overs put Scoland on the back foot and there was to be no recovery as Jackson picked up a second with skipper Niamh McNulty and Millie Spence also claiming two each.
Ireland beat Scotland by 6 wickets - Warmup

The Sevens Stadium, Dubai, 9 January.
Scotland 98 (19.3 overs: E Walsingham 27, N Sheikh 15, R Speedy 14; L Neely 2-5, M Spence 2-15, L McBride 2-17, N MacNulty 2-20)
Ireland 99/4 (15.3 overs: R Lowe 27, A Walsh 18, A Squires 14*, L McBride 10*)
Ireland opting to field in the second game of the day and it's skipper Niamh MacNulty with the breakthrough in her first over. Scotland had reached 52 before the second wicket fell, Emma Walsingham run out for 27, but that marked the start of a middle order collapse with Lucy Neely, Millie Spence and Lara McBride each taking two wickets to snuff out any chance of a Scottish recovery. Wrapped up by Kia McCartney and Niamh MacNulty in the final over to keep the Scots below 100. Runs again at the top of the order from Lisburn's Rebecca Lowe and Clontarf's Alice Walsh before Annabel Squires and Lara McBride see Ireland home with more than four overs to spare.
