Peter Gough was the glue that held Jersey's batting together during a glittering career in the blue and red of the Channel Island.
A solid opener with a reliable technique, Gough ensured that Jersey were a force to be reckoned with throughout the World Cricket League.
His record of 62 appearances between 2008 and 2017 shares the record with Gyendra Malla of Nepal.
Gough's run-scoring feats saw him score 18 fifties and one century, ensuring he was the leading run scorer in the competition's history with an aggregate of 2006 runs at just under 40.
His haul puts him in exalted company ahead of players of the calibre of Gerrie Snyman, Paras Khadka, Khurram Khan, Kyle Coetzer and William Porterfield.
Gough skippered Jersey for the majority of his career, and ensured they enjoyed their fair share of success as they went up and down through the divisions of the WCL. They stayed for the most part in Divisions Four and Five, but they did at one stage fall down to the sixth tier before bouncing back.
Jersey finished runners-up to Afghanistan in 2008 gaining promotion as Gough scored four half centuries in six games. However they suffered relegations in Tanzania and Nepal as they found it tough in alien conditions given the composition of their mainly seam attack.
They stayed in the sixth tier until they found home comforts winning the division in 2013, with Gough again to the fore. He scored his maiden hundred against Bahrain, with fifties also against Argentina and in the final against Vanuatu.
They made it back-to-back trophy wins as they finally overcame their travel woes in Malaysia, with Nat Watkins and Ben Stevens to the fore, while Gough chipped in with a crucial 75 against the hosts.
Gough was once again in the runs later in 2014 with half centuries against Oman, Malaysia and Italy but despite this, Jersey fell through the relegation trap-door.
Back in Jersey they beat Oman to win division 5 again, but dropped once more when they and Italy were relegated that year in Los Angeles. However Jersey and Gough's World Cricket League journey ended on a high note as they travelled to South Africa and thanks to a fine all-round effort they won the trophy yet again as Vanuatu were beaten in the decider.
While T20 cricket wasn't his strongest suit, Gough did ensure that Jersey had their most memorable win to date as they crushed Hong Kong by nine wickets in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Ireland in 2015. He made an unbeaten 81 from just 60 balls, finding the boundary ten times in his finest hour in T20 cricket.

'Peter the Great' deserves his place in the European cricket pantheon, with his exploits putting Jersey firmly on the cricketing map bringing three major trophies to the island during his tenure.
