It's another victory at a World Cup event, but this time it's one where Ireland were favourites against a fellow Associate, as they edged out UAE by two wickets.

It's the match chosen by Adrian Raftery who is better known by his alias of Larry the Leprechaun. He's been a familiar figure at Ireland games since 2007. A professor of taxation by profession, he's written a series of popular books on how to save money in his native Australia.

The tie with Zimbabwe which featured earlier in the series will always be my favourite, but a close second was the win over UAE in 2015 CWC at the Gabba. A match that we were certain to win after the huge Windies win nine days earlier in Nelson.

But greeted with such hot, humid conditions at the Gabba was a real leveller. Most of the Irish supporters attended this one as their first match as it was too long between the 1st and 2nd matches. UAE getting away in the last 10 overs with that crazy century.

The Irish started slowly in reply and the worlds press were getting around me to give me heaps that Ireland were going to lose this match. There is a famous Vimeo of me - slightly glassy eyed - were I still predicted the win and was scoffed at. Do they still do 6 second Vimeo's?

Anyway it seems at the end of the weekend that this Vimeo of a leprechaun surpassed Madonna in views. Something that I seem to recall a certain B Chambers never thinking would ever happen.

This match I introduced the world to Lil Larry and we had a great time with the UAE fans. Lil Larry loved his nursery rhymes back then so instead of Mary had a little Lamb we sang 'UAE have Khurram Khan ... his hair's as white as snow'

So after the Vimeo I recall that Ed Joyce got a bit of luck which I call a Leprechaun ... when the ball clipped the stumps, the zinger balls flashed but returned into the grooves. With ten overs to go it was hard work but Kevvie smashed a quick fire 50 and I knew a quirky stat back then that although his overall average wasn't great, Gary Wilson actually had a great head to head batting average against UAE.

And once again he produced a valuable knock against them. I remember the Irish crowd getting right behind the Irish in those final overs. So much so that the lads ran across the field to high five everyone after such a clutch match.

I remember the Careful Now and Ground Hurling signs in the crowd. Very funny. In a World Cup where there was much debate over the number of teams being reduced in future world Cups, two Associates produced a classic match. A similar match would repeat between Afghan and Scotland.

With its second win in the first two matches, the boys were on top of the group table although the hit to net run rate with such a close match would prove costly when the Quarter Finalists were named. Still I loved that final match v Pakistan of that World Cup at Adelaide Oval where all the Irish fans congregated in one section and belted out 'Give us a Test Match' Which reverberated around the Oval that night.

If if only we could get another Test match soon!
