The latest game in the series features a famous last-ball victory when Ireland Women beat Bangladesh in Bangkok to win the T20 World Cup Qualifier. It's the favourite match of Isobel Joyce.

Isobel Joyce won 168 caps for Ireland between 1999 and 2018, taking 137 wickets at 25.51, with a best-bowling display of 6 for 21 against Pakistan. She played in both T20 and 50-over World Cups as well as Irish crickets first Test win back in 2000. From a famous cricketing family, she is one of five to have played at senior level for Ireland. She currently works for the Leinster Cricket Union.

Bangladesh have become our fiercest rivals in recent years - no surprise since between us we have been ranked in 9th and 10th place since our first T20 World Cup in 2014.

It was the T20 World Cup Qualifier final that we played against them in 2015 that will live longest in my memory. We were in Thailand in sweltering heat and the chance to win a tournament loomed large.

The other teams participating had finished their games and were there to support one team or the other. Who am I kidding? They were all supporting us.

Bowling first, we did a decent job of restricting Bangladesh to 105/3, Ciara Metcalfe taking all three wickets. But we knew that on such a difficult track and slow outfield, chasing 105 would be much tougher than the numbers would suggest.

It was a match where nobody stood out too much but Cecelia - my twin sister - set a solid platform with 32 up top and Laura Delany (26*) was the experienced head that was in at the end. And what a finish it was. I didn't do much to influence the game myself, but I feel I played my part when it came to the last ball.

Lucy O'Reilly was facing, we needed one run to win, and the Bangladesh bowler, Salma Khatun, effected a Mankad to dismiss Laura Delany. Cue wild celebrations from our opposition, stumps were pulled out of the ground, they were jumping on top of each other, all sorts.

From the sideline we told Laura not to leave the field, Khatun had not carried the Mankad out correctly (she had completed her action before taking the bails). After deliberation with the match referee, the decision to give Laura out was reversed.

In one way, the whole thing was moot because the Bangladeshis seemingly forgot that we still had one batter in the shed and they hadn't actually bowled their last delivery.

Anyway, the shock must have got to Salma and she sent down a long-hop that the diminutive Lucy O'Reilly dispatched to the mid-wicket boundary.

I had basically been anonymous in the game but I was incredibly proud of how I had captained and how hard the team had battled to win a global tournament against our fiercest rivals.

Ed's postscript: One of my favourite games too. Taking the post match pics I had the bizarre image of a supposedly joyful Bangladeshi player in floods of tears. I shed none for them as they were a moody, bunch whose brand of cricket I cared little for. And as for the Mankad incident: Sum num na as the Thais here say.
