A comfortable seven-wicket win for Ireland against Namibia in the 2009 ICC Trophy/World Cup Qualifiers is the favourite match of Willie Dwyer.

Willie Dwyer is a long time Ireland supporter who has travelled far and wide supporting the Boys in Green over the past 30 years and more. He is one of the famous Dwyer family who are synonymous with The Hills CC in North Dublin.

Where do you start selecting a favourite Irish game?

There are so many amazing days watching the green via TV, internet, text and of course at the venues but I was trying to look past the obvious ones and I came up with Irish versus Namibia in qualifying tournament for the India World cup 2011 in Wit university in Johannesburg.

A very, very warm day in a stunning ground.

We saw many great performances with Namibia setting us 214.

Porty and Niall got decent runs and Moggy also.

Another great memory was a brilliant run out by John Mooney who chased a ball down to the boundary and threw to the keeper at the far end securing the wicket.

This was one of the many highlights on a great trip that summed up the Irish cricket family perfectly as players, officials and fans chatting together at the end of the match.

We travelled home the next day or so with many new friends made.

Little did we know what lay ahead for us in India and that famous night in Bangalore which came as a result of winning this tournament.

Ed's Postscript: Ireland beat Canada in the final by 9 wickets to be crowned champions. Trent Johnston took five wickets for 14, while skipper William Porterfield hit an unbeaten century in a dominant display.
