The Dutch and the Namibians are celebrating after securing their places in Australia. The UAE and Oman will get another chance tomorrow.
The hosts won the toss against the Netherlands after winning the toss, and the Dutch pace attack blew the UAE top order away, reducing them to 4-4 and then 9-5. They never recovered from there and could only muster 80-9 from their 20 overs, with Brandon Glover the leading bowler with 4-12.
The Dutch had little trouble chasing down their target, Ben Cooper leading the way with an unbeaten 41 as they completed an eight wicket win in 15.1 overs. They'll now play a semi-final against Ireland on Friday, whilst the UAE get another chance at qualification against Scotland tomorrow.
In the night game, Namibia also chose to bat after winning the toss, only to lose Stephan Baard from the first ball of the match. Namibia initially struggled to score quickly, but that soon changed when JJ Smit came out to join Craig Williams. The pair put on 83 before both were out in consecutive balls, Williams for 45, whilst Smit clubbed 59 from just 25 balls.
Bilal Khan bowled superbly to take 4-19 for Oman, whilst the Smit/Williams partnership helped Namibia post 161 from their 20 overs.
Oman lost Jatinder Singh early on in their reply, but otherwise looked to be cruising to their target, with Khawar Ali and Aqib Ilyas putting on 57, with Ali looking in particularly good form. But the introduction of spin after the powerplay overs put the brakes on.
Some tight bowling - and some bizarre shot choices - saw Bernard Scholtz and Gerhard Erasmus take three wickets each before the pace bowlers finished things off to bowl Oman out for 107 and secure a 54 run win.
After just missing out in 2015, Namibia will be delighted to be returning to the global stage for the first time since the 2003 ODI World Cup. They'll play Papua New Guinea in the semi-final on Friday, whilst Oman have another chance to qualify against Hong Kong tomorrow.
