IRELAND will play in a five-team tournament in Oman in October before they travel to the UAE for the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Ireland's first game will be against Netherlands on Saturday October 5 followed by games against Oman and Hong Kong on the Sunday and Monday.

Following a rest day, Ireland complete the tournament on Wednesday morning against Nepal, who are the highest ranked of the quintet, they are currently 11th in the T20 world rankings, four places ahead of Ireland.

The Dutch are 13th, Oman 18th and Hong Kong - now coached by Trent Johnston, 19th.

The Ireland squad will also have two official warm-up games in the UAE, before the qualifying tournament begins on October 16.

The last of the 14 qualifiers will be known on August 25, when the Americas representatives emerge from a tournament in Bermuda.

It will be the second visit this year to the Sultanate for Ireland’s T20 squad, having beaten the hosts and Netherlands and lost to Scotland in a four-team tournament in February, before they travelled to India to face Afghanistan.
