Umpire Alee Dar recently broke another record as he overtook Rudi Koertzen’s record of officiating in the most ODI’s (210).

He has at the time of writing now stood in 387 matches, which is another record, including the most Tests, and second only in T20I’s to country compatriot Ahsan Raza.

The 52 year-old had a great friendship and rivalry with Ireland manager Roy Torrens, who in his youth was not only an accomplished cricket and soccer player, but also a table tennis champion.

Dar himself was a very fine sportsman, and their battles on the table tennis became hotly contested affairs whenever they met on the cricketing circuit.

Honours were shared as there was little to separate these cricketing giants who were such wonderful ambassadors for their respective countries.
