Ole Mortensen of Denmark forged a very successful county career with Derbyshire for whom he played from 1983 to 1994.
A tall, bustling medium fast bowler of metronomic accuracy, he took a combined 653 wickets for the county, helping them to success in the Benson and Hedges Cup final and John Player league.
Following his playing career he coached in his native Denmark, but it was as coach of Germany that he attended the 2004 European Division Two event in Belgium.
He was doing a tour of the facilities and on inspecting the outfield at Mechelen came across a rabbit hole.
‘Stan’ saw the funny side of things and can be seen here serving the rabbit with an eviction note.
It was a familiar theme in the early days of European tournaments where facilities and grounds were basic to say the least, but gradually improved as more and more tournaments were held.
