The game between the two fierce rivals was a high scoring one, with Scotland coming out on top thanks to a powerful batting display.

Defending 324, Scotland knew while they were overwhelming favourites the prize Irish wicket was that of Ed Joyce who had a Bradmanesque average of just under 100 during the tournament which served as a qualification competition for the 2007 World Cup.

John Blain pictured here is giving it all as he tries to bounce out Joyce.

Interestingly in the background (wearing a cream jacket) is former England Test bowler Mike Hendrick who coached both Ireland and Scotland.

Blain played 118 times for Scotland taking 188 wickets at 23.72, which places him third on the Scottish all-time aggregate list — level with Safyaan Sharif and behind Majid Haq and Craig Wright.
