2008 saw the beginning of the World Cricket League with one of the most entertaining tournaments being the Division Five competition in Jersey, held in May 2008 with 12 teams playing across two groups.
This was the tournament which saw the emergence of Afghanistan who would go on and win the competition despite a few shaky moments along the way.
One of the most memorable individual performances in the tournament came from Mahaboob Alam of Nepal in their group game against Mozambique at Grainville.

The left-armer gained cult status as in a terrific new ball spell he took all ten of the African sides wickets for just 12 runs as they were skittled for just 19.
Nine of the Mozambique side failed to score, with Syed Shah (9) and Shoaib Younis (2*) the only two players to register on the card.

The images show Alam bowling number 11 Imtiyaz Lili to complete the ten-wicket haul, before being carried off the field by his jubilant team mates.
At the end of tournament presentations, Sir Geoffrey Boycott presented Alam with the match ball as a memento of his wonderful display.
There was to be further recognition of the feat back in Nepal where a stand was named in his honour.
