Cronkbourne’s Luke Lacey took the top honour at the Island’s Annual Dinner on Friday. He was named Manx Independent Player of the Year after an outstanding season in which he took 845 runs, 35 wickets and made ten catches.

Lacey also received the Manx Radio cup as Best Batsman and the H. P. Nicholson trophy for Top All Rounder. Amongst his many achievements was a haul of six wickets against Germany in the ICC Europe Division Two.

There was more joy for Cronkbourne when Adam Killey accepted the W. T. Cook trophy for best wicketkeeper and Sam Kebbell received the Best Fielder award.

Akkie Van der Berg took the Greg Coulter Trophy as Best Bowler. The Peel and St John’s seamer claimed 41 top class wickets at an average of just under 13.

In the Youth section the prolific Island and Cronkbourne batsman Adam McAuley became Best Under 21 Player. Castletown’s Richard Jackson with a great haul of 60 wickets was top Under 21 Bowler.

For the third consecutive year Union Mills provided the Best Player in Forrester One. This time it was skipper Chris Nash who hit 463 runs at an average of 51. Finch Hill’s promising young George Burrows is the Forrester Two Player of the Year.

The Cain Millennium Trophy for services to Manx Cricket went to Sue Davidson who has just retired as IOMCA secretary after many years of exceptional service.

The loyal toast was proposed by life member Ian Tomlinson and IOMCA chairman Neill Angus spoke about the achievements and challenges facing Manx cricket. The club trophies were presented by Neill Grimley from sponsors Standard Bank.
