Island Cricket will be celebrating the success of its junior players on Sunday October 12th with a special Awards Presentation. The venue is Union Mills FC clubhouse and all young team members and their parents are invited.

Starting at 2pm, the Under 9s league trophy and the inaugural Holiday Shield will be awarded. The winners of both are the excellent Finch Hill squad who had a great season.

The Holiday Shield, a cup competition, saw them defeat Ramsey in a spirited final. The northerners batted first and were restricted to 220 runs.

In reply the Douglas side got off to a fast start, but then a fighting Ramsey performance pinned them back. In the end Finch Hill did just enough to place 244 runs on the board to take the honours.

Next Sunday at 3pm it is the turn of the Under 12s when Cronkbourne will receive the league trophy. Also an award is to be made to the Under 12 Player of the Year.

Following this come the Under 15 squads. Once again Cronkbourne take the league trophy, but who is to be named Player of the Year for this division?

In addition to the above awards, all players who took part in the games will receive special medals. The event is free of charge and drinks will be available. It should be a great afternoon and a fitting tribute to the young cricketers of the Island.
