There was high drama in the T20 Final for the President's Cup at Ramsey on Sunday. This was the closing game of the season and, from the very last ball, Alex Stokoe hit a four to win the match for Cronkbourne.
Peel and St John's had been dismissed for 109 despite a fine 39 from opener Dan Hawke. Chris Hawke hit 19 and Pete Lewis 12, but there were three run outs from smart Douglas fielding.
Jaco Jansen and Rowan Bird each took two wickets, while Stokoe bowled four tight overs for only eight runs.
Needing 110 to win, Cronkbourne made a steady start with Jansen scoring 24 and Adam McAuley making 22. However the Saint's bowlers were giving nothing away and the run rate fell below that required.
After ten overs only 45 runs had been scored and then wickets began to fall as Ollie Webster and Mark Walker struck. With two overs left Cronkbourne needed 13 runs to take the Cup.
Eight were wanted from the closing over and at the final delivery only three wickets were left. Stokoe then hit a boundary to give his side a dramatic victory.
Both teams were praised for an excellent match and a closing session which spectators will remember for a long time.

At Mullen-e-Cloie Crosby B won the Standard Bank Blincoe Cup, but were pushed all the way by an excellent Junior Development squad.
Batting first the Marown side made 133 for 3 with opener Drew Buxton cracking a very good 58 before being bowled by Sam Mills. The juniors replied with 111 for 9, thanks mainly to 39 from Sam Callister and 27 by Mills. Harry Rothwell and Matt Mey both took two wickets.
So the Development squad started their second innings 22 runs behind their opponents. The Crosby bowlers were disciplined, but the juniors battled away.
They ended on 110 for 3 with opener Callister crashing 22, George Burrows 20 and a resilient Mills ending on 45 not out. That left Crosby a target of 88 in their final innings which they reached in eleven overs. Jack Rowland top scored with 26 and Rothwell made a solid 20.
Drew Buxton was named Man of the Match and received his trophy from IOMCA chairman Neill Angus.
This completed a successful year for Crosby B who also topped the Forrester Division One. This is the third time they have won the Blincoe.
So the 2014 season ended on a high with two excellent finals, both played in warm sunny weather. Roll on 2015 !!
