The champions of the Standard Bank Premiership will be known on Saturday.

With all teams having only one match left, Peel and St John's lead second placed Cronkbourne by 18 points. Another two points from their closing game will be enough for the Saints to take the title.

However it will not be that easy. Their opponents are Castletown who lie in third spot in the table. On Sunday they were still in with a chance of coming first, but a rained-off clash with Valkyres dashed their hopes. Mathematically they can still do it, but the odds against are enormous!

The Saints suffered their first defeat of the season last week when they lost to Cronkbourne by eight wickets. Now they face Castletown who they beat earlier in the year off the last ball of the match.

The Town will be out to win the return, but it is difficult to see them denying the couple of points Peel and St John's need. This could be a high scoring match and well worth watching.

Meanwhile at Tromode Cronkbourne must take all 20 points from their match against Crosby and then hope that the Saints suffer a disaster at Mullen-e-Cloie.

The tragedy for the Douglas side is that, after a hesitant start to the season, they are now playing some great cricket. Last week's victory was a fine example with Luke Lacey smashing an excellent 96 and Adam McAuley in top form with 71.

Crosby should prepare themselves for a fierce onslaught which they will do well to withstand.

Ramsey will be buoyed by their first Karran victory of the season last Saturday. A nerve-wracking two wicket win at Marown confirmed the big improvement made recently.

They will be looking for more success against visitors Valkyres. Matty Grice and Brian Arnold both took four wickets last week, but Valkyres are a difficult prospect. If their batting clicks, then Ramsey could be in deep trouble.
