In the morning games of the European Division Two championship in Essex, there were wins for Austria over Gibraltar, Isle of Man edged out Germany, while Norway proved too strong for Belgium.

Afghanistan born Shadnan Khan proved the hero for Austria in their comprehensive 6 wicket win over a bitterly disappointing Gibraltar side.

Khan took 3 for 5 as Gibraltar were restricted to 104 all out, while Nandeep Soggi (2-21) also bowled well.

David Coram top scored with 33, while there were all too brief cameos from Ian Clark (23) and Kayron Stagno (18).

Khan then anchored the comfortable run chase with 47 from 43 balls (6 fours), sharing a second wicket stand of 73 with Imran Asif (32), as the win was achieved with 17 balls remaining.

Luke Lacey proved the Isle of Man hero in their 12 run win over Germany.

The Manx paceman took 6 for 34, able assisted by Max Stokoe (3-22) as Germany were dismissed for 120, despite the best efforts of Rishi Pillai (33) and Khalid Khan (26).

Skipper Phil Littlejohns (30) had top scored in an efficient IOM batting total of 132/5, with usueful contributions from Ollie Webster (27) and Dan Kniveton (25).

The final morning match saw Norway comfortable 8 wicket winners over Belgium.

Ehtsham Ul Haq and Shabaz Butt shared a second wicket partnership of 101 as Norway chased 127 with ease.

Ul Haq hit an unbeaten 50 from 47 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes), while Butt made 47 from 43 balls (5 fours).

Earlier Safir Hayat took 4 for 13 to restrict Belgium to 127 - Waqas Shafiq (39) and Syed Jamil (21) their main run scorers.
