The Isle of Man won all three of their warm-up matches prior to their first game in the ICC Europe Division Two championships.

On Friday they gave an impressive performance by winning both T20 matches against the MCC at Tromode. In the morning game the Manx batted first and Luke Lacey opened with an aggressive 63, which included 6 fours and 3 sixes. The side raced along at more than eight an over with top support coming from opener Adam McAuley (24) and Greg Hawke (43).

The innings ended on 166 for 5 and in reply the MCC were soon in deep trouble when Sam Kebble shocked the visitors by taking three wickets in his second over. They slowly recovered, but were well behind the run rate.

Ollie Webster swept in with 3 -8 and Hawke took 2 -4 from three very tight overs. The MCC were dismissed for 82 to give the Island victory by 84 runs.

A fine team effort, but for an appreciative crowd, one of the highlights was the superb wicket keeping of Adam Killey. He made four stumpings, including two stunning dismissals off leg side wides.

In the afternoon match, the MCC went in first and ended on 95 for 6. They were pinned back by disciplined bowling and sharp fielding.   Alex Stokoe and Kebble took two wickets each.

Needing 96 for victory, the Isle of Man paced their innings with confidence and reached their target after 16 overs for the loss of two wickets. Webster hit 24 and McAuley completed a good day by ending on 44 not out.

The next day the squad flew to London and on Sunday played a friendly against Hadleigh, who are second in the Essex League.

Going in first again, the Island made 169 for 8 with Danny Kniveton top scoring on 35, which came from 24 balls. Alex Stokoe batted well for 28 not out from 14 balls, while McAuley also made 28 and Greg Hawke hit 27.

Good bowling from the Manx then pinned back the English team who were restricted to 118 for 8. Hawke returned 3 -10, Alex Stokoe 2 -21 and there were wickets for Akkie van den Berg, Lacey and Kebbell.

In reply Castletown openers Christian Steriopulos and John Short put on a stand of 116 before Short fell to Webber for a sprightly 45. Garreth Roome (31) and Sam Riordan (26) hit out as the Town advanced steadily towards their target.

There was an exciting climax to the Premiership clash between Valkyres and Crosby at Tromode. The Douglas side were dismissed for 146 with Ryan Windell making 34 before being bowled by Joe Rothwell.

Jack Rowlands (36) and Martyn Oates (26) led the Marown response but wickets tumbled to Chris Nash, Andy Coulson and Nick Wild.
