Hosts Singapore have recovered from yesterday's disappointing to Denmark with a big win over Italy today at the Indian Association ground.
A rain delay reduced the match to a 40 over contest, with Italy choosing to bat first after winning the toss. They struggled at first, losing wickets regularly, and they had only reached 96-6 after 31 overs.
The lower order then gave the innings some more respectability as they scored 77 from their last nine overs. Fida Hussain led the way with 44 from just 28 balls, whilst Tharindu Fernando also chipped in with 33.
The total though was no problem for Singapore, despite losing Chaminda Ruwan for 11 early on in their innings. Andre de Lange and Chetan Suryawanshi put on an unbroken 153 for the second wicket, scoring 62 and 96 respectively.
The nine wicket win was completed with 5.4 overs to spare.
After a rest day tomorrow, the tournament resumes on Tuesday with Singapore taking on long time rivals Malaysia and Italy playing Jersey.
