Peel & St John's increased their lead at the top of the Standard Bank Premiership when they beat Valkyres by eight wickets on Saturday. The Douglas team were dismissed for 94 despite an excellent 42 from Marc Furness Then the Saints rushed to victory with Ollie Webster hitting 46 not out.

Wicus Wessels struck a great 91 as Castletown ended on 222 for 5 against Crosby. His innings included 9 fours and 4 sixes. Jack Newbery (23) and Richard Jackson (29) batted well while Jacob Hicklin took four wickets.

The Marown side chased the runs, led by Drew Buxton cracking 64 and Danny Kniveton making 56. As they got near their target, wickets began to tumble and, in a tense finish, Joe Rothwell got the winning runs with only three wickets and one over left.

At Tromode Cronkbourne had problems against a lively Ramsey attack and lost all their wickets for 123, despite 47 from Luke Lacey and 39 by Max Stokoe.

In reply Ramsey was well placed at 39 for 2 as the sides went into tea. However, after the interval the northerners collapsed and ended on 51 all out. The damage was done by Max and Alex Stokoe who both took four wickets.

Harry Rothwell is the first Manx batsman to score a century this year. He hit 122 not out for Crosby B in their Blincoe Cup victory over holders Peel and St John's B.

Batting first the Marown team made a massive 187 for 0 from their sixteen overs. Drew Buxton gave great support with a fine 36 not out. Locals say this partnership was the second highest in Crosby history.

The Saints made a good attempt to chase down the total and were given a good start by Daniel Dickinson (30) and Alex Williamson (24). Then Colin Gilbert was run out by Gareth Rowlands and danger man Tom Gascoyne fell to a stunning catch by Dave Picken. Kieran Cawte and Floris Venter claimed two wickets each and the innings ended on 138.

Also in the Blincoe Cup the Development Eleven defeated Castletown and Union Mills had an exciting win over Finch Hill. Opener Juan Corlett made 51 not out as the Finches reached 132 for 3

The Millers lost a couple of early wickets before Bruce Wagstaff (25) and Chris Nash (46) had a 70 run partnership. Ben Bennett then changed the game with a hat-trick to leave Union Mills struggling on 100 for 6.

In a tense finish, Eddie Clague (13) and Rob Howland (14) batted sensibly to take their team to victory by four wickets, but with only one ball to spare.

In the Standard Bank Tinker Cup on Sunday there were good wins for Cronkbourne and Valkyres. At Tromode Cronkbourne dismissed Union Mills for 50 with Sam Mills and James Harrison each taking three wickets. Steve Slack then scored 30 as the Douglas team won by ten wickets.

At King William's College Castletown were 54 all out after 29 overs, Valkyres passed that total for the loss of two wickets to take a place in the semi-finals.
