Peel and St John's beat both Crosby and the weather to go top of the Standard Bank Premiership. They won their game on Saturday by eight wickets while the match between champions Cronkbourne and Valkyres was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Chris Hawke won the toss for the Saints and decided to field. After Crosby lost an early wicket, disaster struck. Three wickets went down with the total on 10 – two to Akkie van den Berg and a run out.

Floris Venter and Danny Kniveton took the score to 36 when Venter fell to Greg Hawke's first ball. At 40 for 5 and after 19 overs, play was halted by rain. When it resumed two hours later, the number of overs for each side was reduced to 29.

Before the break the Marown team had been scoring at just two an over. They stepped up the run rate in their final ten overs, but more wickets quickly fell.

The innings closed on 87 for 9 with Kniveton hitting 16 and Harry Rothwell making a violent 22. Van den Berg finished with 3 -16 from eight overs and Nick Hawke took 2 -11.

Chris Hawke and Nick Hawke opened for Peel and St John's at a rapid pace. With one eye on the weather, they raced to 72 before Chris was caught for 29. Nick went for 30, but Phil Littlejohns and Ollie Webster calmly guided their side home for an excellent victory.

The Tromode ground was flooded by the heavy rain which hit Douglas on Friday night. Any play was impossible and so Valkyres and Cronkbourne take five points each for an abandoned match.

This was a heavy blow for champions Cronkbourne who are now falling behind Peel and St John's in the battle for the 2014 Premiership title.
