The final warm-up game for the UAE and Nepal has concluded with the UAE recording a relatively simple win over a well below par Nepal side.
Put into bat by UAE captain Khurram Khan, Nepal found runs hard to come by. They only scored three in the first two overs, with Sagar Pun the first to be dismissed, from the first ball of the third over having scored just one.
The only significant partnership of the Nepali innings was between Subash Khakurel and Paras Khadka, who put on 36 for the third wicket. Khakurel top scored with 28, whilst Khadka made 27. Basant Regmi's 10 was the only other score in double figures.
Sharif Asadullah was the pick of the UAE bowlers, taking 3-15 as Nepal were bowled out for just 95.
The UAE's reply started badly when Amjad Ali was trapped lbw by Paras Khadka for a second ball duck. The innings looked to be progressing similarly to Nepal's as the UAE found themselves on 34 in the 8th over when Khurram Khan was the third man out.
But Swapnil Patil and Shaiman Anwar got things back on track with a 48 run partnership, which ended when Patil was out for 33. Anwar, who eventually finished unbeaten on 30, and Rohan Mustafa then guided the team to the target to complete a six wicket win with seven balls to spare.
Nepal's first tournament match will be on Sunday when they take on Hong Kong in Chittagong. The UAE will have to wait until Monday when they will open their campaign with a match against Zimbabwe in Sylhet.
