The last time these two teams played was July 1982 in the ICC Trophy. Zimbabwe were captained by Duncan Fletcher, and Hong Kong included a 19 year old Dermot Reeve. Zimbabwe have moved on since then, becoming an ICC full member in 1992.

But you wouldn't have known it today, as Hong Kong recorded their first ever win over a full member as Mark Chapman smashed the last ball of the match for a six.

Put into bat by Hong Kong captain Jamie Atkinson, Zimbabwe lost their first wicket with just seven runs on the board, but recovered thanks to a 42 run second wicket partnership between Sikandar Raza and Brendan Taylor.

Raza went on to score 32 before he became one of three wickets taken by Irfan Ahmed, but the top score of the Zimbabwean innings was an unbeaten 45 by Elton Chigumbura, scored from just 28 balls. That score helped Zimbabwe post a challenging 153-7 from their 20 overs.

Hong Kong's reply didn't start to well as both openers were dismissed for single figure scores. They lost wickets regularly from then on, though there was some resistance from Jamie Atkinson - who scored 20 - and from Nizakat Khan - who scored 23.

Having scored just 89 when Roy Lamsam was the sixth man to be dismissed though, Hong Kong were looking well out of it, with little chance of a win.

Mark Chapman and Tanwir Afzal had other ideas though. The pair put on an unbroken 70 for the seventh wicket, and brought the scores level with one ball still to come. Afzal had scored 37 from 21 balls, whilst Chapman was on 47, scored from 32 balls.

Chapman was facing, and rather than just nudge the last ball for a single to win the game, he showed supreme confidence by smashing it for six to bring up his fifty and secure a famous win for Hong Kong.

It may only have been a warm-up game, but Hong Kong will be delighted with their win over a full member. They will play the Netherlands in their second warm-up game on Friday, looking to continue this fine start to their campaign.
