The UAE were certainly competitive in their warm-up match against tournament hosts Bangladesh, but they were unable to win today in Fatullah.

Batting first after winning the toss, UAE openers Amjad Ali and Faizan Asif scored quickly early on, reaching 32 in 4.4 overs before Ali was out for 19. Asif then put on 31 in 3.2 overs with Khurram Khan before he was out for 31, scored from just 22 balls.

Khurram Khan went on to score 44 before he was bowled by Farhad Reza, sharing in a 45 run partnership for the fourth wicket with Shaiman Anwar. The UAE eventually made 142-7 from their 20 overs.

The Bangladeshi reply started badly when Anamul Haque was dismissed for a duck in the first over with the score on two. When Shakib Al Hasan was out for nine in the third over, Bangladesh were reeling on 17-2.

But Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim got their innings back on track, putting on 58 for the third wicket before Rahim was dismissed for 27. Iqbal went on to score 43, the top Bangladeshi score, as Bangladesh secured a four wicket win with seven balls to spare.

So certainly not a bad start for the UAE, who ran a full member close on their own turf. Khurram Khan will be pleased with his 44, the top score of the match. The UAE's next warm-up match will be against Nepal on Friday.
