With one game still to come, Jersey have secured promotion to Division Four of the World Cricket League after beating the Cayman Islands at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur today. It's a second consecutive promotion for the Channel Islanders, coming after they won Division Six on home turf last year.

Batting first after winning the toss, Jersey's innings got off to an awful start. Nat Watkins was out for one in the second over, and his opening partner Peter Gough was out for a duck three balls later. Jersey found themselves on 2-2 and in need of an urgent recovery.

Ben Stevens and Jonty Jenner managed to put on 37 for the third wicket before Jenner was out lbw having scored just one. Dean Morrison was out for nine five overs later, the score on 58-4. Stevens then put on 58 for the fifth wicket with Andy Dewhurst, taking the score to 116-5 before he was out for 79 from the first ball of the 27th over.

Jersey began to seize control of the match from that point on. Dewhurst and Ed Farley put on 47 for the sixth wicket before Dewhurst was out for 44. Farley was joined at the crease by Anthony Hawkins-Kay, and the pair batted out the rest of the innings, scoring an unbroken partnership of 116.

Farley finished not out on 86 - scored from 77 balls - whilst Hawkins-Kay was not out on 36. The pair took Jersey's total to 279-6.

The Cayman Islands struggled in reply, quickly finding themselves on 27-5 in the twelfth over. Omar Bryan and Ronald Ebanks took the score to 61, but were dismissed in quick succession in the 19th and 20th over respectively.

The wicket of Ebanks brought Conroy Wright to the crease, and the number nine launched something of an onslaught at the Jersey bowling attack. He smashed 79 not out from just 51 balls, giving the Caymans total a degree of respectability it wouldn't otherwise have had.

Tom Minty took the last three wickets to fall, finishing with figures of 4-32. The Caymans were bowled out for 157, losing by 122 runs.

Jersey will now face Guernsey on Wednesday safe in the knowledge that it won't be a crucial game. They will not be taking their foot off the gas against their oldest rivals however. The Cayman Islands will play Tanzania on Wednesday, needing a huge win if they are to avoid relegation to Division Six.
