Jersey have made it two wins from two matches with a big win over Tanzania at the Kinrara Academy Oval today.
Jersey batted first after captain Peter Gough won the toss. Gough, who top scored yesterday, didn't last long though as he was caught behind for a duck in the second over. Nathaniel Watkins and Ben Stevens ensured that early wicket was just a blip by putting on 100 for the second wicket.
That partnership ended when Stevens was out for 53, whilst Watkins went on to score 73 before he was bowled by Hamisi Abdallah, sharing in a 52 run partnership for the third wicket with 16 year old Jonty Jenner.
Dean Morrison and Andy Dewhurst gave the innings some late impetus, scoring 51 from 42 balls and 35 from 24 balls respectively as they put on an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 82, taking Jersey's total to 266-4.
The only bright spot for Tanzania in reply was an innings of 48 by Benson Nyaikini. He was one of four wickets taken by Cornelis Bodenstein, who finished with 4-31. Anthony Hawkins-Kay was also in the wickets, taking 3-25 as the Tanzanians were bowled out for 164, losing by 102 runs.
Jersey will meet their fellow unbeaten team Malaysia on Sunday, after a rest day tomorrow. Tanzania will play a Guernsey side looking for their first win of the tournament.
