Ross McLean won the toss and elected to bat with Scotland showing two changes from the previous day with English and Edwards replacing Sabri and Muir.

Sole opened with Umeed for the Scots and they put on twenty before they were both out in the space of three balls, which resulted in McLean and English coming together for the third wicket.

The pair put together a hundred partnership for the wicket, the highest by Scotland in the tournament to date, before McLean departed for 41 which had come from 56 balls and his innings included two fours.

English became the backbone of the innings as he moved on to 72 before he was run out, to become the seventh wicket to fall as the other batsmen struggled with the difficult surface.

Lower order hitting from Edwards (19) and Main (12) enabled Scotland to reach 209 before they were all out in the penultimate over.

Nosaina Pokana was the pick of the PNG attack with 3 for 27 with Nao and Morea snapping up a couple of wicket each.

On the resumption Scotland made the breakthrough in the sixth over when Doriga was caught by Umeed off the bowling of Main with sixteen on the board, and one run later Gosain trapped Bau in front, to put the Scots on top.

PNG wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as the batsmen struggled against the Scottish spin attack of Gosain, Watt and McLean.

PNG was eventually all out in the forty fourth over for 132 with Watt with 3 for 26, McLean with 3 for 31 and Gosain 2 for 22 the destroyers in chief for Scotland.

Scotland will now meet Namibia on Wednesday to decide the thirteen/fourteenth place with PNG taking on Canada to decide the fifteenth/sixteenth placings.
