Scotland's cricketers slumped to a heavy seven wicket defeat against the UAE in their play-off match.

Their batting misfired spectacularly as they were skittled for just 119, failing to capitalise on the good start given by openers Andrew Umeed (23) and Ross McLean (13) who added 34 before the first wicket fell.

Zander Muir (18), Gavin Main (11), and Chris Sole (10) were the only other batters to reach double figures in a poor display.

Indeed it could have been much worse had it not been for the concession of 31 extras by the Emirati bowlers.

It was the opening UAE attack of Omer Rizwan (4-24) and Pankaj Samant (3-45) who inflicted the damage.

Scottish ropes rallied briefly when Gavin Main trapped Dan D'Souza in the first over, but it was to prove a false dawn.

Shiv Mehra with 41 guided UAE to the brink receiving solid support from Shorye Chopra (26), before Vijaykumar (28*) and Singh (15*) guided UAE home with seven wickets and 18 overs in hand.

Abdul Sabri (2-31) took the other two wickets to fall on a day to forget for Craig Wright's young charges.
