Scotland's Under 19's gave India a mighty scare before eventually going down by five wickets in their Group clash in Dubai.
Defending an extremely modest total of 88, the opening attack of Chayank Gosain (3-31) and Gavin Main (2-20) reduced the much vaunted India line-up to tatters, having them on the the ropes at 22 for 5.
Alas, the dream didn't stay alive for long as an unbroken sixth wicket partnership of 70 between Sarfaraz Khan (45*) and Deepak Hooda (24*) saw India over the finishing line without any further alarms.
Earlier Scotland had collapsed from 54 for 2 to 88 all out, losing their last eight wickets for just 34 runs.
Only Andrew Umeed with a top score of 44 survived the onslaught, scoring half of his side's runs from 77 balls (4 fours).
Gavin Main (16) was the only other player to reach double figures in a batting display to forget.
Kuldeep Yadav and Aamir Gani both took 4 for 28, with Yadav becoming the first Indian to take a hat-trick in the U19 finals.
Scotland are next in action on Wednesday when they take on Pakistan, with the winners progressing to the quarter-finals and the losers going into the placings play-offs.
