The UAE's poor start to the tournament continued today in Sharjah as they were beaten by New Zealand by a wide margin.

They did get off to a reasonably good start in this match though, reducing New Zealand to 50-3 in the 12th over. But the visitors recovered thanks to a 145 run partnership for the fourth wicket between captain Robert O'Donnell and Shawn Hicks.

That partnership ended when Hicks was dismissed for 70, and O'Donnell then put on 86 for the fifth wicket with Leo Carter, who was dismissed from the last ball of the innings for 48. O'Donnell remained unbeaten having scored 107.

The UAE were never really in the hunt in reply, with Chirag Suri the only batsmen to get any sort of start, scoring 57. Jack Hunter was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with 3-32 as the hosts were bowled out for 169, losing by 112 runs.

The UAE's last group match will be against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, whilst New Zealand's next match is against England, also on Tuesday.
