It was always going to be a tough ask for Namibia against Australia, and whilst the margin of defeat was over 100 runs, Namibia will be pleased with the performance of Bredell Wessells.

Batting first after winning the toss, Australia lost their first wicket in the opening over, with just two runs on the board. Namibia failed to capitalise on that start though, as Matthew Short and Jaron Morgan put on 80 for the second wicket before Morgan was out for 33.

Short then shared in a partnership of exactly 100 for the third wicket with Ben McDermott, the partnership ending when McDermott was out for 45. Short was out soon after that for 96, just missing out on a well deserved century.

Australia went on to score 242-7 from their 50 overs, Bredell Wessells being the pick of the Namibian bowlers with 4-50.

Namibia struggled in reply, losing wickets quickly to start with, soon finding themselves on 69-7. Bredell Wessells, batting at nine, then gave their innings a little more respectability, scoring 43 before he was last out.

James Bazley and Matthew Fotia both took three wickets for Australia, helping bowl the Namibians out for 141 to secure the 101 run win.

Both teams will be back in action again on Monday, with Australia playing Afghanistan and Namibia playing Bangladesh.
