Scotland lost the toss and Kenya captain Rakep Patel elected to bat at the Hagley Oval Christchurch.

Kenya got off to a flier as Karim and Obanda went at a run a ball with the Scottish bowlers leaking too many boundaries. They had taken the score to 66 before Calum MacLeod got the Scots a well needed breakthrough running out Karim for 23.

Aga joined Obanda and the pair took the score along at a run a ball to 93 before Taylor got Aga caught by Mommsen.

Obanda however was providing the backbone of the Kenya innings as the Scottish bowlers started to find some line and length as they reduced the scoring rate.

He took the score to 190 with the help Obuya (29) and Ouma (4) before he was finally out, bowled by Iain Wardlaw. He had made 89 from 101 balls in the thirty ninth over. His innings included eight fours and one six.

Kenya skipper Rakep Patel with 38 along with the lower order managed to get Kenya to 260 with the last wicket falling from the final delivery to set up a tantalising target for the Scots.

Sharif although expensive picked up two wickets for 65 with Taylor, Wardlaw, Haq Machan and MacLeod all picking up one wicket.

Scotland got off to a steady start as Cross and MacLeod put on 31 for the first wicket before the former gave a catch to keeper Karim and when Machan fell to Aga 20 runs later Scotland were on the back foot.

Mommsen and Cross two of the batting heroes from the previous match, then steadied the ship with a solid fifty partnership before Cross was trapped in front by Ngoche and when Coleman was out eleven ruins later, the match was in the balance with Scotland 113 for 4.

Berrington give his captain much needed support as they put on 48 before be gave a return catch to Odoyo to depart for 30, and eight runs later Leask was trapped in front for 5 and it was game on with Scotland 169 for 6 in the thirty eighth over.

The fall of Berrington's wicket brought Rob Taylor to the crease as Scotland required 112 runs for victory.

They rebuilt the innings with a superb partnership of 57 before Mommsen in looking to increase the run rate was caught by Patel to give Odoyo his third wicket of the match. He had contributed 78 to the total.

The equation was now quite simple with Scotland needing a further 35 for the win from 25 balls as Sharif came to the crease to join Taylor.

It was time for both the batsmen and bowlers to hold their nerve and in the end it was the Scots who came out on top as Taylor with an unbeaten 46 and Sharif with 10 saw them home in a nail biting finish with three balls to spare.

Jubilation for Scotland as the vital win was secured to see them qualify for the 2015 World Cup along with UAE, much to the delight of the players and supporters.
