Man of the match Machan said his performance was a reflection of a strong team showing. "I'm delighted to get man of the match (award), but I think all round it was a great team effort. Hopefully we can build on this win and come back tomorrow against PNG."

"It was slightly tough to play the game over two days, but we actually did it in the summer against Kenya in Scotland, so most of the guys have done it before and it wasn't too taxing."

Scotland captain Preston Mommsen was thrilled that his side was able to back up its strong batting performance in the field today. "Coming back today was a bit difficult, they had a really good partnership together, and we struggled to get a breakthrough. But I think Sharif had a brilliant spell towards the back end, and I think that's what won us the game."

The skipper was particularly pleased with the number of Scotland batsmen making meaningful contributions.

"I think the batters are scoring runs, which has been a problem for us in the past. We are obviously still missing our regular skipper, Kyle Coetzer, but the other guys are standing in brilliantly and going on to meaningful scores. Matt Machan batted brilliantly, so that set us up for this game."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's match against Papua New Guinea, Mommsen said: "I think it's a new surface which will hopefully suit us with our new ball bowlers, it might make it difficult for them to score, because we know they like scoring quickly. Hopefully we can come at them hard with our pace attack."

Namibia skipper Sarel Burger said his side will be aiming to bounce back for tomorrow's match against Hong Kong. "It didn't go our way, but in these tournaments it's a big thing to keep your head up and keep going, but there were a couple of individual performances that are great to see and we're keeping positive and looking forward to the game tomorrow."

"I think it's good to keep the momentum going and the guys are in the groove at the moment, so we're looking forward to tomorrow," he said.
