The Netherlands slumped to a second defeat in the warm-ups to the world cup qualifier today, The UAE recording an effortless six wicket win.

The much-vaunted Netherlands top order again failed to deliver as Manjula Guruge and Amjad Javed took two wickets apiece in the first 12 overs, and the Dutch found themselves under the cosh at 46-5.

Again it fell to the lower order to provide the bulk of the runs, but despite captain Peter Borren smashing a quickfire 28 and a fine partnership between Tim Gruiters (58*) and Ahsan Malik (30), the Netherlands managed only 189 for their ten wickets.

The total never looked remotely competetive as the UAE set about the chase. Vivian Kingma was to be the only Dutch bowler to find any success, bowling Chirag Suri for 11 in the 12th over, thereafter the UAE dominated the attack. Amjad Ali and Salman Faris put on 88 for the second wicket before both retired out for 70 and 34 respectively.

The Dutch managed one more wicket before the end, Wesley Barresi running out Vikrant Shetty for 10 with the total on 153, but Swapnil Patil and Rohan Mustafa combined to take the UAE home with nearly ten overs to spare.
