Khurram Khan has put in a fine all-round performance as the UAE beat the USA by 14 runs today in Abu Dhabi.

Batting first after winning the toss, the hosts scored steadily throughout their innings, scoring 151-5 from their 20 overs. Skipper Khurram Khan led the way with an unbeaten 61, with Mohammad Azam also chipping in with 28.

In reply, the USA didn't even seem to be making an effort to win the game, despite mostly keeping up with the required rate. Steven Taylor scored a casual 42 from 46 balls, with the next highest score being Karan Ganesh's 22.

Needing 22 from the final two overs, the Americans contrived to score just seven runs and lose two wickets, losing by 14 runs a match that they probably should have won had they put in any sort of serious effort with the bat. Khurram Khan took 3-30 to complete a match winning all-round performance.

The UAE will now take on the Netherlands on Wednesday in a match that will see the winners qualify for Bangladesh. It won't be over for the UAE if they lose though, as they'll get a second chance against the winners of the match the same day between Scotland and Italy.

The USA meanwhile have finished in eighth place in Group A and will now play Denmark in the 15th place play-off. Hardly the best finishers to tournaments in recent years, the USA could well find themselves being the first team in the tournament to lose to Denmark.
