Namibia have won the battle of the two African sides in group A, beating Uganda by 38 runs in Abu Dhabi today.
After a brief delay due to rain, Namibia batted first after winning the toss. Nicholaas Scholtz, their star with the ball yesterday, top scored in their innings with a knock of 38. Captain Sarel Burger also contributed with 34 in their total of 125-7.
A low total, but one that Uganda couldn't even get near. Philimon Selowa was the sole batsman to get a decent start, making 35. Uganda struggled to 87-9 from their 20 overs, Bernard Scholtz and Louis van der Westhuzien both taking three wickets.
The defeat eliminated Uganda from their slim chance at reaching the play-offs. Namibia currently lie in fourth place, and will only finish third if the UAE are heavily beaten by the USA in the afternoon game.
