Namibia have secured their place in the play-offs of the World Twenty20 Qualifier after beating Canada in Abu Dhabi today.

Batting first after Namibia won the toss, Canada again struggled to score quickly, but did at least keep wickets in hand, reaching 109-4 after 17 overs. But Nicolaas Scholtz bowled superbly, taking five wickets as the Canadians collapsed to 117 all out.

Namiba lost Louis van der Westhuizen to the second ball of their run chase, and Canada did take them into the last over, but they were never really in trouble. Raymond van Schoor scored 58, whilst captain Craig Williams scored an unbeaten 37 as Namibia completed a seven wicket win with three balls to spare.

Both teams still have one game left, with Namibia taking on Uganda tomorrow. Canada will be hoping Namibia win that game, as that result will increase their chances of reaching the play-offs if they beat Italy tomorrow.

It's a long shot for Canada though, and they are likely to be heading back to the Canadian winter having not qualified, hoping to perform better at the ODI World Cup qualifier in New Zealand in January.
