Ireland in Safe Hands With Spin King George Dockrell Among the Wickets Again

Ireland's Spin King George Dockrell was among the wickets again today as Ireland wrapped up a relatively routine win today against Uganda on a wicket that helped the spinners.

The man who has the safest hands in the history of the Tournament is looking forward to bowling in the remaining games on wickets that should definitely be to his liking.

Barry Chambers: George another pretty comprehensive win, and you're back among the wickets?

George Dockrell: Yes, I think it was good, I think the batting especially. I think the deck is probably getting a bit more used, and credit to our batters for putting that score up in the end. I think it was quite easily defendable with the attack we had, we knew we would be able to defend that. And obviously very happy to be back in the wickets, but  had help with the used pitch.

Barry Chambers: You can see the experience out there, we know what a par score is?

George Dockrell: I think obviously our whole batting line up, there is so much experience there and it is a good thing, you know, that if we do lose wickets, there's always guys coming in. I mean even if you look at the guys we still had in the hutch towards the end of that innings, you know we had plenty in there, and plenty of experience. So I think it's great, and I think credit to our batsmen, because I think every game we've batted well and set good totals. And hopefully that continues on.

Barry Chambers: And you've developed a bit of a partnership with Paul Stirling in the middle overs, together you have done a good job so far?

George Dockrell: Yes it's great, you know obviously coming out of the power play Paul and I have predominantly taken the ball then, and it seems to be going pretty well, squeezing teams, and I think it's been working well when we've batted first with big totals, so we can put the pressure on and the run rate climbs a little bit.

So hopefully you know again that continues and will get more and more as the pitches here get more and more used.

Barry Chambers: And you seem to have pretty safe hands, leading catcher, not only in the tournament, but altogether in the history of the tournament.

George Dockrell: Yeah I don't want to jinx myself yet, but I've been picked out a good bit in the field, and hopefully I won't drop too many in the future.
