The United Arab Emirates have made sure of their place in the play-offs after beating Canada in Abu Dhabi today.

Batting first after Canadian captain Ashish Bagai put them in, the UAE scored 159-8 from their 20 overs. Runs were spread amongst the team, with Mohammad Azam top scoring with 36. Harvir Baidwan was the pick of the Canadian bowlers with 4-23.

Canada never really got going in their reply, with Ashish Bagai and Damodar Daesrath the only batsmen to get a start, scoring 43 and 30 respectively. Nasir Aziz took 3-25 as they were bowled out for 123, losing by 36 runs.

The win ensures that the UAE will make the play-off stage of the tournament, but they still have two games left, playing Italy tomorrow and the USA on Sunday. Canada will play Namibia tomorrow, and take on Italy on Sunday.
