The Netherlands have kept their position at the top of group B steady after a five wicket win over Nepal at Sharjah today.

Dutch captain Peter Borren won the toss and put Nepal into bat. Whilst they kept wickets in hand, their scoring was way too slow, and they were on 96-3 going into the last two overs, Gyanendra Malla unbeaten on 44.

Malla fell from the first ball of the penultimate over, becoming the last of three victims for Mudassar Bukhari. Two more wickets fell in the last over, and Nepal had only made 107-6 from their 20 overs.

The Dutch reply had a little scare when they went from 45-1 to 61-4, but they were never really in any trouble. Basanta Regmi bowled well for Nepal, taking 3-12 from his four overs, whilst Stephan Myburgh top scored with 31 for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands eventually completed the five wicket win in the 17th over of their run chase, ensuring that they top Group B with 8 points, ahead of Afghanistan and Nepal on 6 points each.

Both teams have a day off tomorrow, and will be back in action on Friday, with both teams coming up against regional rivals. The Netherlands will be playing Scotland, whilst Nepal will take on Afghanistan.
