Canada have won their first game at this year's World Twenty20 Qualifier, beating Uganda by 44 runs in Abu Dhabi.
Batting first after winning the toss, Canada's innings was dominated by 40 from captain Ashish Bagai and an unbeaten 58 from Jimmy Hansra. No other batsman made double figures, but their contribution was enough to ensure Canada recorded a decent total of 137-7 from their 20 overs.
After successfully chasing 148 against Italy yesterday though, Uganda would still have been confident of chasing that total.
Such confidence proved to be misplaced though, as Uganda lost wickets regularly, Canada never allowing any batsman to settle at the crease. Uganda were eventually bowled out for 93 to lose by 44 runs.
Canada will now have two days off and will look to win again when they take on the UAE on Friday. Uganda's next match will be against the USA on Thursday.
