If their last two games are anything to go by, Italy seem to enjoy close games against African sides. After losing to Uganda from the penultimate ball yesterday, the game against Namibia today went right down to the last ball, with the African side again emerging victorious.

Batting first after winning the toss, Italy soon found themselves struggling as they lost wickets early on. The score was 27-4 after the powerplay overs ended, at which point Italy set about rebuilding their innings.

Carl Sandri scored 31, whilst Michael Raso top scored with an unbeaten 35 as they reached 121-7 from their 20 overs. Not a particularly high total, but a better one than their start suggested.

Namibia's reply was dominated by Louis van der Westhuizen and Craig Williams, who scored 41 and 57 respectively. They were the only two double figure scores, but it was enough to get Namibia to the position where they needed nine from the last over.

Craig Williams hit a boundary from the first ball of that last over to leave them needing five from five balls, but he holed out to Damian Crowley from the next ball. A single was taken from the third ball of the over, but Nick Scholtz was run out attempting a second.

JJ Smith then ran two from the fourth ball and a single from the fifth to bring the scores level. Gareth Berg couldn't help Italy get to a decisive super over though, as his last ball was hit for a single by Jaen Kotze to secure an exciting three wicket win for Namibia.

Namibia will be back in action tomorrow when they play the so far unbeaten Hong Kong in only the second ever meeting between the two sides. Italy have a day off before taking on defending champions Ireland on Thursday.
