Namibia recorded their first win of the World Twenty20 Qualifier today by beating the USA by 35 runs in Abu Dhabi.
After being put into bat, Namibia started quickly, and kept up a run rate of around 8 for almost their entire innings. Captain Sarel Burger top scored with 43, whilst Craig Williams and Christi Viljoen also chipped in with 37 and 32 respectively.
Karan Ganesh bowled well for the USA, taking 2-14 from his four overs as Namibia made 163-4 from their 20 overs.
The Americans started off their chase well, with Steven Taylor dominating proceedings with 44 from 34 balls. But his dismissal sparked a collapse as they went from 75-2 to 85-7 in under three overs, and they never recovered from there.
The USA were restricted to 128-8 from their 20 overs, losing by 35 runs. Both teams will have day off tomorrow and will be back in action on Tuesday with Namibia playing Italy and the USA taking on defending champions Ireland.
