Hong Kong continued their winning start to the tournament with a win over Uganda today in Abu Dhabi.
Uganda batted first after winning the toss and soon found themselves on the back foot as Tanwir Afzal took three wickets inside his first two overs to leave the Africans reeling on 6-3. There was something of a middle order recovery but Uganda continued to lose wickets regularly.
Richard Okia gave the innings some late impetus with 31 from 30 balls, but he could only take Uganda to 105 from their 20 overs.
Hong Kong kept things steady in their run chase, and had reached 56-2 at the halfway point. But Roger Mukasa then gave them an almighty scare by taking three wickets in four balls, to leave observers thinking that Uganda could pull off an unlikely victory.
Mukasa took another wicket to finish with four, but Hong Kong kept themselves together long enough to secure a four wicket win. Tanwir Afzal completed a fine all round performance with 26 from just 11 balls.
Both teams have a day off tomorrow and will be back in action on Monday when Hong Kong take on Canada and Uganda play Italy.
