Namibia certainly are far removed from the team that almost qualified from the last World Twenty20 Qualifier last year, and they lost again today, this time to the hosts.

Namibia batted first after the UAE won the toss, and scored at a slow rate to start with the exception of Christi Viljoen who hit 35 from 30 balls before he was out at the halfway stage.

His dismissal ended any Namibian hopes of making a decent score, and whilst JJ Smit batted well towards the end of the innings with 23 from 15 balls, their total of 120-9 was never going to be enough to challenge the UAE. Rohan Mustafa was the pick of the bowlers with 3-14.

Mohammad Azam led the way in the UAE's reply with an innings of 51. Namibia's fielding was at times quite shocking, no doubt disappointing their fielding coach Jonty Rhodes. The UAE lost some quick wickets towards the end of their innings, but they were never in trouble as they wrapped up a five wicket win with an over to spare.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow, with Namibia taking on the USA and the UAE taking on defending champions Ireland.
