Uganda were thought by some to be the best of the three African nations at this World Twenty20 qualifier, but they looked well out of sorts against a strong UAE side this morning in Abu Dhabi.
Batting first after losing the toss, Uganda lost their first four wickets for just 25. They then recovered somewhat in the middle order with a 43 run partnership for the fifth wicket between Phillimon Selowa and Davis Arianaitwe.
But they couldn't kick on from that recovery and they were restricted to just 88/8 from their 20 overs, a target that the home side had little trouble with.
Shaiman Anwar, who's been in excellent form in recent months, led the way for his team by hitting 54 from 38 balls to help secure an 8 wicket win for his team with almost six overs to spare.
A convincing win for the UAE then, who will be hoping to push for qualification to Bangladesh. On this showing though, Uganda are going to struggle to make the play-offs.
