Uganda have secured their place in the World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand next year after beating the USA today in Bermuda.

Batting first after winning the toss, Uganda's innings started badly when Arthur Ziraba was bowled for a duck in the first over, but recovered thanks to Benjamin Musoke and Lawrence Sematimba both scoring 44. The scoring rate was too slow though, with the score on just 131-6 when Sematimba was out in the 43rd over.

Uganda went on to score 175 before being bowled out one ball short of their quota of 50 overs. Timroy Allen was the pick of the US bowlers with 2-37, whilst running between the wickets was a problem for Uganda with four wickets falling to run outs.

The USA's reply was't looking good when the dangerous Steven Taylor was out for a duck, and things didn't get much better. Uganda bowled well, especially when taking pace of the ball, and bowled the USA out for 93 in 39.1 overs, Roger Mukasa taking 3-29.

Meanwhile, Italy's relegation to WCL Division Four was confirmed when they lost to hosts Bermuda. Bermuda batted first after winning the toss and scored 284 from their 50 overs thanks to a blistering innings from Lionel Cann who smashed 113 from just 48 balls, reaching his century in 45 deliveries.

In reply, Peter Petricola and Carl Sandri both scored 66 for Italy, with Sandri's coming from 34 balls, but the next highest score was 29 and Italy were bowled out for 224 to lose by 60 runs. Italy were again displeased with the umpiring, with coach Joe Scuderi and the players taking to twitter to complain.

In the battle between the two Asian sides in the tournament, Nepal batted fiirst against Oman and scored 160-9 in their 50 overs. They then bowled Oman out for 132 to win by 28 runs and give themselves an outside chance of reaaching the World Cup Qualifer.

The USA will be favourites to get that second place in the qualifier thouugh, needing what will be a likely win over Bermuda to secure that place. Should they lose, then that brings Bermuda into contention, and Nepal should they beat Italy, though the USA's net run rate should still just be enough to qualify. Oman will play Uganda, needing a win to avoid relegation to Division Four. All those matches will take place on Saturday with Friday being a rest day.
