It was a rain affected day in Kuala Lumpur as the last round of round robin matches took place at Division Four of the World Cricket League. And Nepal and the USA were the two teams that ended the day the happiest after securing promotion to Division Three, set to take place in Bermuda in 2013.

Nepal were playing Denmark at the Kinrara Academy Oval, batting first after winning the toss. Their innings started badly when Subash Khakurel was bowled from the second ball of the match, but opening partner Anil Mandal went on to score a fine 113 to help take his teams total to 240 all out from their 50 overs.

Denmark also lost their first wicket early, with Carsten Pedersen falling in the second over. At the halfway stage they were 77-3 with Andreas Lambert looking well set on 47. But at this point the rain came and Denmark would pay the price for that slow start and early loss of wickets.

When the rain stopped, Denmark were given an adjusted target of 156 in 31 overs, which amounted to needing 79 from just six overs, a stiff ask for any side. And when Lambert was bowled from the first ball after the restart, the task became even more difficult, and Denmark were only able to reach 130-9, losing by 25 runs.

Nepal will be joined in Division Three by the USA, who also batted first after winning the toss at the Bayuemas Oval. They managed to score 263 from 49 overs before they were dismissed, Steven Taylor the top scorer with 50, whilst Saad Janjua was the pick of the Singapore bowlers with 4-40 from his eight overs.

Rain stopped play after the second over of Singapore's reply, with the score on 9 for no loss. When play resumed, Singapore were given a target of 186 in 27 overs, but when the rain returned after 24 overs, they were only on 129-8. The par score at that point was 166, so they lost by 37 runs.

The result left the USA, Singapore and Denmark all level on six points each, and the net run rate calculation showed the USA on top of the three, thus securing their promotion.

The two teams now go to Bermuda early next year for Division Three. It's an immediate return to the division for the USA, whilst Nepal will be playing at that level for the first time. The top two from that tournament will reach the World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand in 2014. Before that though, there is the matter of tomorrow's Division Four final.

The other game of the day saw Malaysia pick up their first win against the also relegated Tanzania, an unbeaten 102 from 104 balls from Rakesh Madhavan the highlight of the five wicket win. These two teams will play again tomorrow in the fifth place play-off. Denmark and Singapore will play in the third place play-off.
