After yesterday's rest day, the third round of matches of WCL Division 4 in Kuala Lumpur took place today, with Nepal ending the day as the tournaments only unbeaten side after an easy win over Asian rivals Malaysia.
They owed their win to an amazing spell of bowling from Shakti Gauchan. The leg-spinner bowled ten overs, going for just two runs in the spell, which included eight maidens. He also took three wickets into the bargain, Basanta Regmi also taking three, for the slightly less economical 12 runs.
Malaysia were bowled out for just 69, a target which Nepal reached in 12.2 overs to win by 10 wickets. Anil Mandal top scored with 41 from 40 balls.
At the Kinrara Academy Oval, the USA also recorded a quick win. After Usman Shuja took 3-14 to help bowl out Tanzania for 92, the USA won by 7 wickets. They scored their runs in just nine overs, helped by Steven Taylor smashing 46 from just 22 balls.
The match at the Bayuemas Oval between Denmark and Singapore was a much closer affair than the wins for Nepal and the USA.
Denmark batted first and were bowled out for 173 in 46.3 overs. Shehzad Ahmed top scored with 50, whilst Freddie Klokker scored 45. Singapore took their time chasing down the target, taking 46.4 overs to secure a four wicket win, Munish Arora top scoring with an unbeaten 39.
Nepal will look to continue their unbeaten run and secure promotion to Division 3 when they take on the USA tomorrow. Tanzania and Malaysia will need to win to avoid relegation, and they play Singapore and Denmark respectively.
