Ireland have ensured that they will finish second in the 2012 European Division One Championship after beating Scotland today at Port Soif in Guernsey.
On a gloriously sunny day, Scotland captain Scott Cameron won the toss and elected to bat first and his team started well with an opening partnership of 33. But when captain Jack Tector brought himself on to bowl, they lost four wickets with only one run added to the score, Tector taking three of those wickets to fall.
Ben Wilkinson attempted to get the innings back on track with a fighting innings of 27 but when Gareth Delany had him stumped in the 24th over, the wheels came off the Scottish innings and they were bowled out for 110. Jack Tector finished with the tournament's only five wicket haul, taking 5-26, all without the assistance of a fielder.
Ireland had a brief session before lunch with the wicket of Aaron Gillespie falling. After lunch, Sonny Cott led the scoring with an innings of 46 and after he was out Gary McClintock took over, scoring an unbeaten 41 to take Ireland to an eight wicket win.
